I have for many years been upgrading new and old Hornby models
- Part one I am going to upgrade the tenders chassis this part is very simple.
- carefully remove the body from the chassis
- Once remove you will find the motor I have no plans of touching. I will just simply put it instorage incase I decide to return the model back to how it left the factory.
- I will reuse the body for the new chassis.
- Here is the brand new chassis which the body will be fitted too.
- You might notice that this chassis has no motor fitted the reason why is because I am going to relocate the motor to the front of the train converting the model from tender drive to loco drive this will be featured in Part Two.
- You might notice that there is alot more detail on this chassis then the original paint work has improved and spring loaded buffers and brake cables.
- Now I am placing the body onto the new chassis.
- This the tender is now complete I should say myself it's a great improvement.
- notice the more fine detail this new chassis and really gives this trains body a new lease of life.
- What the body tender use to look like before the upgrade.
Come back soon for Part Two.
